Start Date: Summer

Application Deadline:  Wednesday, May 8th, 2019  at 10:00 AM

DUTIES:  The Hiring Committee (HiCom) Chair is responsible for planning and coordinating all BSC hirings at the Central level, except for BSC Senior Management.  The Chair conducts hirings with the Staff Hiring Committee and Member Hiring Committee, and ensures that hirings are conducted fairly and legally.  The specific duties of this position include, but are not limited to, updating job announcements and actively recruiting for positions; maintaining the BSC HiCom website; conducting HiCom trainings at least twice per semester; familiarizing themselves with BSC job descriptions and personnel policies; reviewing applications and screening interview candidates; setting interview schedules; communicating and coordinating with candidates, supervisors, and hiring committee members; and maintaining hiring records and resources.

REQUIREMENTS:  This person should have excellent organizational and administrative skills, as much of this role requires coordination with staff, HiCom members, candidates, and their schedules, telephoning, reviewing applications, performing hirings in a timely manner and notifying applicants of the status of the hiring. The ability to work independently and meet established deadlines is necessary.  Good communication skills – both oral and written – are a must.  Strong word-processing skills and previous experience with Google sites or similar web interfaces are helpful.  Previous hiring experience is strongly preferred.  The ability to work well with other people is necessary.  Dependability is a key element in being successful in this role.  The hours will vary; you should expect to commit a lot of time at semesters’ transition, with a lighter workload in the middle of the term.  You must have a flexible schedule, as there may be increased and evening hours required, especially at the beginning and end of each semester.  You cannot be on the Board of Directors and hold a central level job.  You must be a BSC member and meet student eligibility guidelines to hold this position.

HOURS/CREDIT:  This is a 15 hour/week position, compensated with a rent credit stipend at $16.00/hour for 10 hrs/week and will fulfill your five-hours/week workshift requirement.  Apartment residents will receive an additional rent credit stipend for the five workshift hours (at $16/hour), as this job does not replace the workshift requirement at the apartments. If for whatever reason this job begins mid-semester, the stipend will be prorated.
