PROGRAMS BOARD MEMBER

JOB DESCRIPTION: The Programs Board is responsible for BSC-wide programming designed to enhance member education and engagement across the cooperative. The Programs Board is responsible for planning and executing a minimum of ten educational and/or social events each year. The Programs Board Members and Coordinator are ultimately responsible for ensuring the Programs Board fulfills this mission.

Specifically, the Programs Board Members are responsible for attending all Programs Board meetings, planning the event calendar and event details and ensuring the smooth preparation, completion, and conclusion of member events—duties may include but not limited to budgeting, establishing dates and alternate dates, advertising and promoting the event, selecting and reserving the event site, acquiring permits, transportation, tables, chairs, event support and security, emergency plans, and cleanup. The Programs Board Members will work under the supervision of the Programs Board Coordinator and will work closely with the Experience & Training Committee, the Cooperative Experience Manager, and Member Resources staff.  The Programs Board Members will keep a project log to record the hours spent on each project and they will maintain regular communication and respond to emails in a timely manner.


REQUIREMENTS:  Applicants must have excellent organizational and communications skills, and an interest in event planning and execution.  Previous advertising, writing, and public speaking experience, as well as the ability to work independently and with a diverse group of people are necessary for this position.  Knowledge of BSC policies is helpful, but not required.  You must be an eligible BSC member to hold this position.

HOURS/PAY:  This is a 3 hour/week position, which is compensated with a rent credit stipend of $668.46 each semester.  This is an academic year positon.  If, for any reason, the position is not filled until after the beginning of the contract period, the stipend will be prorated.  You cannot be a member of the Board of Directors and hold a central-level position.
