DUTIES: The Social Manager Coordinator (SMC) takes the lead in planning major BSC member events. The SMC plans, schedules, and organizes member education and board events—duties may include but not limited to budgeting, establishing dates and alternate dates, advertising and promoting the event, selecting and reserving the event site, acquiring permits, transportation, tables, chairs, event support and security, signage, emergency plans, and cleanup. The SMC works with unit level management and social managers to ensure safe, well-planned parties at the unit level. The SMC also provides leadership and direction to the Programs Board to ensure BSC-wide programming throughout the year. The SMC works closely with the Member Resources Supervisor (MRS) and VPET to create professional and well-attended events.

REQUIREMENTS: You m
ust possess a CA driver’s license and be authorized to drive BSC-owned vehicles. You must be able to lift 30 pounds. You need good organizational and communications skills, and you should be interested in event planning and execution. You should have some writing and public speaking experience, as well as the ability to work independently. Basic computer skills, event planning experience, and expertise on BSC party and safety procedures are preferred. Registered UC Berkeley students are preferred. You cannot be a member of the Board of Directors and hold a Central Level job. You must meet BSC’s student eligibility guidelines to hold this job.

HOURS/CREDIT: This is a 10-hour/week job in the Fall/Spring semesters and a 6-hour/week job in the Summer semester. During the Fall and Spring semester it is compensated with a rent credit, in addition to fulfilling your five-hours/week workshift requirement. Apartment residents will receive an additional rent credit stipend for the five workshift hours (at $14.00/hour) for both Fall and Spring, as this job does not replace the workshift requirement at the apartments. If for whatever reason this job begins mid-semester, the stipend will be prorated. This job is eligible for work-study compensation.
