DUTIES

Under the supervision of the Executive Director, the Conduct Investigator (CI) investigates complaints of conduct policy violations brought against BSC members or Units and produces written investigation reports that provide a basis for formal resolution of the complaint by the Conduct Committee and any relevant BSC appeals body. The CI initially will examine all relevant documents that have been collected, and from these documents will create an investigation plan to delineate the scope of the investigation. The CI also conducts interviews with the complainant(s), the respondent(s) and witnesses, in accordance with the approved investigation plan, compiles any documentary evidence, and produces a neutral, fact-based, written investigation report, including interview summaries and other relevant factual information, in accordance with the BSC Grievance Procedure. The CI will present the written investigation report to the Conduct Committee Screening Committee who will determine whether to refer the complaint to the Conduct Committee. The CI will then revise the investigation report to include any additional information or editing requested by majority vote of the Screening Committee. The CI is also obligated to attend the Conduct Committee hearing and any appeals screening committee meeting or subsequent meeting of an appeals body for purposes of answering questions raised on appeal about the investigation report.

REQUIREMENTS

Applicants must be eligible BSC members with previous experience conducting interviews as well as handling sensitive and confidential information. They must also have excellent writing and meticulous note-taking skills and be able to remain professional and neutral in emotionally charged cases. They must have thorough knowledge of the BSC Member Contract as well as conduct policies and procedures. Additionally, they must have an understanding of and demonstrated ability to maintain strong professional boundaries when contacted about a pending or completed investigation.

HOURS/PAY

This is an 11 hour/week position, compensated with a rent credit at the workshift rate (currently $13.00/hour) for six hours/week and fulfilling your five hour/week workshift requirement. Apartment dwellers and summer residents will receive an additional rent credit stipend for the workshift hours (at the workshift rate), as this job does not replace the workshift requirement in these instances. This position starts in the Summer and can be continued in the Fall and Spring. If, for any reason, the position is not filled until after the beginning of the contract period , the stipend will be prorated. You cannot be a member of the Board of Directors and hold a Central Level position.
