JOB DESCRIPTION:  The CFS Office Assistant works in a variety of capacities in Central Food & Supplies.  Duties will include, but not be limited to reconciling packing and receiving records, assisting with inventories, handing off delivery and inventory records to Accounts Payable and the Contracting & Purchasing Agent, data entry, office coverage, and other miscellaneous clerical duties.  Additionally, the Office Assistant helps ensure there is a clean, safe working environment in the CFS office/warehouse, and checks delivery records and warehouse inventory for delivery errors/shorts and delivers/picks-up mis-delivered items as needed.


REQUIREMENTS:  You must be able to use a 10-key calculator by touch, and type at least 35 words per minute.  You must have the ability to work accurately and comfortably with numbers.  Familiarity with Microsoft Office, e-mail and databases is required.  You must be accurate and well-organized and be able to learn detailed information and procedures quickly and accurately.  You must be reliable and punctual.  Some bookkeeping, office work, or computer experience is helpful. Good public contact skills are a plus and you must be able to work well with others.  Preferred, but not required experience:  a valid California Drivers’ License, and be willing to drive a delivery vehicle as needed and one semester experience with CFS operations.  You may not be a member of the Board of Directors and hold a central level job.  You cannot hold a compensated house-level position and this position concurrently. You must be a current BSC member and meet student eligibility guidelines to hold this position.


HOURS/PAY:  This is a 9-hour/week position, compensated with a rent credit at $14.00/hour for 4 hours/week and fulfilling your five-hours/week workshift requirement. Apartment residents will receive an additional rent credit stipend for the five workshift hours (at $14.00/hour), as this job does not replace the workshift requirement in this instance. If for whatever reason this job begins mid-semester, the stipend will be prorated. This position starts in Fall and lasts indefinitely, although you would not work during the summer (as CFS operates only during Fall & Spring Semesters). This job is eligible for work-study compensation.
