JOB DESCRIPTION:  The Development Associate is a member position providing specialized support to the Development Director in order to promote alumni participation in and support for the goals of the Berkeley Student Cooperative (BSC). The Development Associate will learn how to use our Salesforce-based alumni database and be responsible for the integrity, accuracy, and thoroughness of our alumni information. They will help the BSC build relationships with our alumni and organize and complete alumni mailings. As we ramp up BSC’s development capacity, they will help us update our processes. They will help the BSC professionally and graciously process and respond to donations. 


REQUIREMENTS:  
You must be a current member of the BSC and meet student eligibility guidelines to hold this position. You need excellent interpersonal skills, and the ability to work effectively and professionally with a diverse group of students, staff, and alumni. You must have good organizational and communications skills, be detail oriented, and must be able to effectively prioritize multiple tasks with competing deadlines. You must have a working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel. Previous experience with fundraising and/or interest in a fundraising career is preferred.  Y
ou cannot be on the Board of Directors and hold a central level job. You cannot hold a compensated house-level position and this position concurrently. 


HOURS/CREDIT:  
This is an 11-hour/week position, compensated with a rent credit stipend at $14.00/hour for 6 hours/week and fulfilling your five-hours/week workshift requirement. Apartment dwellers and summer residents will receive an additional rent credit stipend for the five workshift hours (at $14.00/hour), as this job does not replace the workshift requirement in these instances. The compensation will change to reflect the BSC-wide rent credit stipend increase to $15.00/hour beginning with the Fall 2018 Housing Term. If for whatever reason this job begins mid-semester, the stipend will be prorated.  This job is eligible for work-study compensation.
