JOB DESCRIPTION: The Assistant to the Maintenance Supervisor’s duties will include a variety of tasks, depending upon departmental needs, including, but not limited to:  Receiving and processing job requests from the houses; producing educational information & materials; assisting with the coordination of Room Condition Reports and the Preventative Maintenance Program; conducting research on suppliers, materials, and techniques in order to expedite jobs; maintaining vehicle maintenance records and coordinating servicing; and other projects as determined by the Maintenance Supervisor.  You will also need to do some clerical work, such as scanning and maintaining electronic records, answering the phone, taking messages, and data entry.


REQUIREMENTS: You must have at least 6 months experience working in an office environment and possess effective written and oral communications skills.  You must have excellent office and record-keeping skills and intermediate skill in with Microsoft Office programs and databases.  You must be able to work independently and manage multiple projects.  A general knowledge of building trades terminology, materials, and techniques is preferred.  You must be an eligible BSC member and meet student status guidelines to hold this position.  You cannot be on the Board of Directors and hold a central-level position.  You cannot hold a compensated house-level position and this position concurrently.

 

HOURS/PAY:  This is an 8-hour/week position, compensated with a rent credit at $14.00/hour for 3 hours/week and fulfilling your five-hours/week workshift requirement. Apartment dwellers and summer residents will receive an additional rent credit stipend for the five workshift hours (at $14.00/hour), as this job does not replace the workshift requirement in these instances. If for whatever reason this job begins mid-semester, the stipend will be prorated.  This job is eligible for work-study compensation.
