What is Scouting for Food?

Some ways for your unit to participate in Scouting for Food include:
Door-to-Door collection
On the first weekend of Scouting for Food, Cubs and Scouts distribute notices to let their neighbors know about the drive. On the second weekend, Scouts revisit those houses to pick up bags full of non-perishable food items (canned food, cereal, pasta, peanut butter, juice, etc.).
Point of Sale collection
Food collection is carried out at the entrance/lobby of a grocery store. Scouts in uniform ask shoppers as they enter to purchase additional food items and drop them off as they exit the store. (For more detailed information about Point of Sale collection, click here)
Point of Sale monetary requests
Monetary donations are requested by scouts at grocery stores, such as Acme Markets. There are some limited slots available for units to solicit donations at the Acme of Flourtown in November 2022. Please email here if you're interested
"Can-struction" and other patrol contests
Patrol contests involving the collection and usage of canned food are another way to collect food. Food used in the contest should be donated by patrol members and their families, not drawn from any items collected in the community. CLICK HERE for examples of a patrol contest involving canned food.
