I am Alexandria Johnson, a student at Nelson County High School and the Blue Ridge Virtual Governor's School program. In my spare time, I enjoy cooking, reading, dancing, and acting. I am attending college at Christopher Newport University in the fall to obtain a masters degree in Environmental Biology.
The topic of interest for my senior internship project is water quality preservation. Working with the Nelson Extension Agent of Agriculture and Natural Resources, Michael Lachance, I hope to learn more about water quality in the Rockfish River and how water sources with below par ratings can, once again, become healthy. My community service portion of the project was to be completed with Judith Winston at the Virginia Museum of Natural History, but due to her busy schedule, I am serving it with Melissa Hutchinson at The Wintergreen Nature Foundation.
Since I am interested in studying Environmental Biology in college, I hope doing this internship will prove to be an exciting and informative experience that will help me to prepare for similar studies while I am in college.
