It's been a busy couple of weeks, to say the least, and lots of great things have happened.
Bike To Work Week (April 16 - 20) and Bike To Work Day (April 20) were more organized and saw more participation than any previous year. We don't have exact counts (maybe next year?) but one commuter meet-up on Bike To Work Day saw over twenty-five bicycle commuters leave City-Brooks Park for Downtown! Thanks to all the sponsors and the folks who made it happen in 2012!
As you may remember, Nathan Crowson was on his way to the Perkins Road Park with Danny Morris this past January when they were hit by a drunk driver on Perkins Road. Nathan died at the scene of the crash and Danny suffered major bodily harm. Friday evening, April 20th, we sponsored a fundraising event for Kat, Nathan Crowson's 5 -year-old daughter, at The Red Star. Our thanks to Flatbed Honeymoon, Zenbilly, and Bedlamville Triflers for providing such great music. And our thanks to everyone who attended and donated. We raised over $400.00 for Kat.
Saturday's Dinner & Bikes introduced 29 people to Elly (Take the Lane blog and a number of 'zines), Joe (Founder of Microcosm Publishe rs and video director / producer), and Joshua (vegan chef extraordinaire and writer of cookbooks). It was a good turn out for an interesting and entertaining evening. Joshua's vegan buffet was varied, colorful, and very tasty!
Sunday's weather couldn't have been better for a festival. Earth Day was very heavily attended. We valet parked 109 bicycles - up from last year - between Noon and 8.00 PM! Thanks to everyone who came out to lend a hand at the corral!
