Connecting Canvas with Facebook

Canvas allows you to connect your course pages with your Facebook account so that you can receive notifications about your courses.

  • Log into Canvas.
  • Select your name in the upper-hand corner of the page to navigate to your profile, where you can see a list of services that can be registered with Canvas.

  • Click the Facebook button in the Other Services column.
  • In the pop-up box that appears, click the Register Facebook Account button. You will be directed to the Facebook login page.
  • Enter your Facebook username and password. You will be directed to your Canvas profile, where Facebook will now be listed under the ‘Registered Services’ column.

Select your preferences for notifications from Canvas in Facebook.

  • Log into Facebook.
  • Select the arrow next to Home in the upper right-hand corner of the page.
  • Select Account Settings from the dropdown menu.
  • Select Apps from the sidebar on the left side of the screen.
  • Select Instructure Canvas from the list of Apps.

  • Select the Instructure Canvas link to be directed to the Instructure Canvas page.

  • Select the Go to app button to view a welcome page where you can configure your notification preferences.
  • Select the Notification Settings button to view a list of the different notification types that can be sent to Facebook and your current notification preferences.

  • Click the Save Changes button at the bottom of the page to change these preferences.

  • Select the frequency with which you wish to receive each notification type through Facebook.
  • Click the Update Preferences button at the bottom of the page when you finish selecting your preferences. You will be directed to a page where you can view your updated notification settings.
  • Click the Back to Messages button at the top of the screen to return to the original welcome page.
