The assignments page on
Canvas shows all upcoming assignments, instructions, their due dates, and how
many points each assignment is worth.

Accessing the Assignments
- Log into Canvas.
- Select a course
from the Courses drop-down menu on the top left of the
- Select Assignments
from the left-hand sidebar.
Assignments Page Features
- View a list of Overdue Assignments (if applicable), Upcoming Assignments, and Past Assignments in the center of the page.
- Click on any of the assignments to open them.
- Select a course
from the list on the right side of the page to view only assignments from
- View assignments
here under Calendar, Grades, and Syllabus.
Submitting an Assignment
- Select the
assignment that you want to submit. The page will open with instructions
and possibly a rubric to guide your work.
- Click on Submit
Assignment on the right side of the page.
- Choose which kind
of submission you want to use, based on what your instructor has offered.
This can include File Upload, Text Entry, or linking to a Google Doc.
- Select Add
Another File to upload multiple files.
- Click the Submit
Assignment button to send in your submission when you are finished.
- Click Cancel if
you decide not to submit your work.
- View the details
of your assignment in the right sidebar after submitting. You may edit
your submission if your instructor allows.
allows instructors to assign work to groups of students. One member of a group
can submit an assignment on behalf of their group as they would submit an
individual assignment. Only one student is required to submit their group's

Canvas allows instructors to assign peer-reviews for assignments. In these cases, your classmate's work will become available to you after you have submitted your own assignment, and then you must review your classmate's work before the assignment is registered as finished.
