The Rich Content
Editor tool on Canvas allows you to upload files directly to pages,
announcements, assignments, and your syllabus. Select ‘File’ from the tab on
the right side of the screen and select ‘Upload a new file.’ Select the ‘Choose
File’ button that appears below, which will allow you to select a file from
your desktop to directly upload.
You can upload a file with a word or phrase in the editing
field highlighted, so that once the page is published students can select the
word — which will now be blue to signify that it is a link — to open the file.
If you do not have a word or phrase in the editing field highlighted when you
upload the file to the page, the file will appear as it exists on your desktop
(e.g. cake.jpg, catcher.doc).
Alternatively, you can create an archive of all files that
you will use for your class. Select ‘Files’ from the sidebar on the left side
of the screen.
Select ‘Add Folder’ on the right portion of the screen to
create folders to organize course content.
Select the ‘Add Files’ button to upload files from your
desktop into the folder. Students will now be able to access these files on the

Content Editor, you will not need to upload the files from the desktop again.

files and select those you wish to upload to the page.
