A key element of the GIS Institute is the individual research project and participants work hard to produce spatial analysis results and mapping by the end of the two-week period. This time around saw incredible diversity in projects--everything from the spatial nature of raiding in northeastern Colonial India to gentrification in Brooklyn to the spatial production of ignorance in post-Katrina New Orleans. Applications are now being accepted for our summer 2015 GIS Institute, a two-week intensive training workshop for Brown graduate students, post-docs, faculty, and staff. To apply, please complete the application. The informational flyer can be found here.
The Institute will run May 18-29, with the first week devoted to lectures, tutorials, and guest speakers. The second week is allocated to independent project work, with mandatory project presentations on the 29th.

The Institute will be held January 5-16, with the first week dedicated to lectures and tutorials and the second to individual project work. The Institute culminates in a day-long conference on the 16th at which participants present their project work. Attendance on the 16th is mandatory!
