Summer 2015 GIS Institute Draws to a Close

posted Jun 4, 2015, 1:47 PM by Rachel Franklin   [ updated Jun 4, 2015, 1:49 PM ]

Friday, May 29 saw the close of S4's Summer 2015 GIS Institute. This round of the Institute included 16 participants from a variety of departments/schools at Brown, including Public Health, Sociology, History of Art and Architecture, and Anthropology.

A key element of the GIS Institute is the individual research project and participants work hard to produce spatial analysis results and mapping by the end of the two-week period. This time around saw incredible diversity in projects--everything from the spatial nature of raiding in northeastern Colonial India to gentrification in Brooklyn to the spatial production of ignorance in post-Katrina New Orleans. A full rundown of projects can be found here.

Sound interesting? We will be offer the GIS Institute again in January 2016 and May 2016. Stay in touch or contact Rachel Franklin, S4 associate director, for more details.
