Over the next few weeks our focus will be:
- In reading we are working with biographies as part of our informational reading unit. We are focusing on what made the person famous and how they impacted history. Please make sure your child is reading 30 minutes every night.
In math we are beginning our unit on fractions. Children will be expected to identify and write fractions. This includes fractions of a whole and a set. We will work with equivalent fractions as well. Please continue to work on your basic facts. (Multiplication and division)
- During the Writer's Workshop we are finishing up our expert pieces. We are typing our final drafts, which will include a table of contents, bold words, pictures, headings, and a glossary.
- For Social Studies we just finished our unit on maps and globes. Children created a lap book with all the concepts we discussed.
- For Science we just started our new weather unit. This is the first year we will be using the Smithsonian science kits to teach all for units.
