Alma Verde, or "green soul," is an environmental education program based out of the Alma Community Center near downtown San Jose, CA.
The Alma Verde After-School Program provides homework help, environmental enrichment, and nutritious snacks for over twenty-five elementary and middle school-age children who hail from the Alma neighborhood.
Alma Verde also coordinates a weekly language exchange program, Comida & Conversation, which brings together Santa Clara University students and Alma community members who are looking to improve their Spanish and English conversation skills.
With the help and support of its many partners including, but not limited to, Santa Clara University, The Silicon Valley HealthCorps, and the City of San Jose, Alma Verde has been working with the Alma Community since Spring 2010.
