Dear Broadmeadow Community,

These are uncertain times with information changing constantly. As you may be aware, the PTC cancelled the Broadmeadow Spelling Bee last night. The good news is that the Spelling Bee will take place today during school hours with 4th and 5th grade students and their teachers. As we monitor the changing situation, the health and well-being of our Broadmeadow community is our top priority.

Per Dan Gutekanst’s email sent last night (Wednesday, March 11), as of today, Thursday, March 12th, all PTC Meetings and other parent events are cancelled to curb the spread of the Coronavirus and reduce the risk of infection. At this time, the following PTC sponsored events are cancelled. Please be on the lookout for more information to come in the next couple of weeks.

Let's Build First Grade
Bingo Night
3rd and 4th Grade Survivor

Additionally, the Needham Public Health Department is advising all event organizers to “cancel or postpone" any large public events for at least 30 days. Following these guidelines, we are cancelling our Spring Social scheduled for April 4th. We are working on contingency plans, and we will provide you with more information as our team solidifies how we are going to move forward with this event.

In terms of parent volunteers (including Media) at Broadmeadow, we are staying in close contact with Administration. At this time, no one except for students, faculty and staff are allowed at Broadmeadow. Although we understand some may be disappointed, we agree with Dan Gutekanst’s sentiments - our main priority is to keep our students and staff healthy and safe in our schools.

Circumstances like these can be hard for kids as well as adults to understand. We hope you will join in our commitment to remind ourselves and our kids the importance of respecting our community and practicing patience and flexibility in these uncertain times. We will, of course, be sending additional updates in the days and weeks ahead as the situation evolves.

Sincerely,
Mindy Kalish and Abigail Hayes
