Hi, Keri,

Beginning this month, your 10th and 11th graders can now qualify for $500 and $40,000 scholarships from BigFuture®! The scholarships are open to all students, with no GPA, test score, essay, income, or citizenship requirements. Every month, we award $500 and $40,000 to students who take steps toward their career and the education they need to reach it.

How to Get Started

To qualify for monthly drawings, your students just need to sign in to their BigFuture dashboard and complete steps, beginning with starting a career list and building a college list. The scholarships are also open to 12th graders until February. We've got educator resources, including this how-to video and another video to see past winners.

BigFuture Scholarships Week Events, December 5–9

You, your students, and their parents can register for these live, online, evening events happening next week to get career and college questions answered by guests from Google, New York University, University of Texas, and national scholarship programs.

Since 2019, we’ve awarded over $16 million to more than 19,000 students, with most past winners identifying as lower-income. Every month, we surprise our $40,000 scholarship winners at their schools. Will we surprise one of your students next?

LMC announces free tuition program, the LMC Promise

Lake Michigan College announced on Tuesday, Feb. 15, the creation of LMC Promise, a free tuition program for new and returning students beginning in Fall 2022.

The last-dollar program covers tuition costs of eligible in-district students who are high school graduates through age 24. That means it pays the remaining tuition costs once other grants and scholarships have been applied.

The program is designed to meet the funding gap between high school graduation and eligibility for the Michigan Reconnect program at age 25.

Fruit Belt Officials Association Scholarship

Each school year, our association offers two $500 scholarships to high school seniors in our area. Scholarship rules include:

  • Each applicant must be a senior, have a 2.5 minimum GPA and be an athlete at one of our area schools (Berrien, Cass and Van Buren counties).

  • Applicants must have verified plans to attend an institution of higher education.

  • Winners will be chosen based on the completed application packet, which must be completed by the student-athlete.

  • Two letters of recommendation shall accompany the completed application.

  • Applicants need not be "star athletes," but individuals that best display sportsmanship, citizenship, dedication and determination.

  • The list of applicants will be narrowed to a list of finalists by the Fruit Belt Officials Association Scholarship Committee. These finalists will be presented to the full membership for the selection of the two award winners.

  • To be considered for the scholarship, the student-athlete cannot be related to anyone who has been an active Fruit Belt Officials Association member during the previous two years.
