Ba'note (Hebrew for "girls") is Brandeis University's all-female Jewish a cappella group. Founded in Spring 2009, the group is a recognized Brandeis club and Hillel member group. Our group's repertoire includes Jewish and non-Jewish songs in both Hebrew and English, featuring arrangements by group members and professional composers alike. Ba'note is unique in that it is "Kol-Isha friendly," meaning that its performances adhere to religious beliefs about women singing in public. In accordance with the laws of Kol-Isha, Banote songs mainly feature the group as a whole, and utilize trios and duets instead of solos. We currently perform on the Brandeis campus and in the Boston area.
