Aikido is a very unique martial arts where it follows very different principles of passive aggressive self-defense when compared to other martial arts clubs. The principles of aikido relate much more closely to the real meaning of self-defense in that it looks to protect oneself both physically and spiritually. It looks not to harm others but merely to remove ourselves from the situation. Aikido can be effective regardless of size and strength for either the attacker or the defender, thus anyone and everyone can start to learn it without feeling disadvantaged physically. Because technique and form is so important, it is crucial and we, the aikido club, learn from a competent instructor who is passionate and experienced in the art of Aikido.http://people.brandeis.edu/~aikido/
