Screencast-o-matic

What is Screencasting?
Digital recording of your computer screen and actions that take place on your computer while recording.
  • The files are big/Attention spans short  
  • Keep your recording short 
  • Don’t forget about loading to services like YouTube, screencast.com
  • Resize when possible (800x600, 640x480, 320x240(YouTube size))  
  • Prepare
  • Storyboard, outline
  • Do a dry run  
  • Have a good microphone  
  • Relax and remember that you can PAUSE  
  • Have some water handy
  • Record procedures and answer common questions.
  • Give students audio-visual feedback (the next best thing to a 1:1 conversation).
  • Record lessons that students can access anytime, anywhere.
  • Make a video to help your substitute teacher if you have to miss class.

Technical Considerations:
Built-in microphones have different quality rates.
Chromebooks do not run Java and thus can not run Screencast-o-matic.
