Body Dysmorphic Disorder

  



What is it?

A chronic mental disorder where your main focus is on the flaws of your appearance. The flaw can be minor, or completely imagined. This causes people to be ashamed to be in public because of their flawed appearance.

Symptoms:
  • Extreme Self-Conciousness
  • Avoiding/obsessing mirrors
  • Belief that you have a flaw 
  • Belief that others focus in your flaw
  • Avoiding social situations
  • Feeling the need to stay at home
  • Seek reassurance about appearance
  • Excessive grooming
  • Compares appearance to others
  • Obsess over a specific body part such as: face, hair, skin, etc.
Longterm Effects:
  • Depression
  • Bipolar Disorder
  • Social Isolation
  • Fear Judgement Expensive Body Altering Surgeries
