Contemporary Issues in American Society

Course Description:

This course will engage students in the study of contem­porary issues in American society. Using the United States Constitution as a guide, with a particular emphasis upon the Bill of Rights, students will examine issues such as freedom of speech and religions, search and seizure laws, rights of the accused, equal protection of the law, and other major topics related to constitutional questions. Major domestic and foreign policy issues of the time will be addressed. Cause and effect relationships, as well as advanced research skills will be emphasized. All students will complete a major course research project.
