Printing a Canvas Quiz or exporting it as a PDF

How to print a Canvas quiz or export it as a PDF file

If you need to print a hard copy of a quiz you create in Canvas, such as for a student on an IEP requiring paper copies, a student who might need to manually make-up a final exam after a course is closed, etc.:

  1. Click Quizzes on the left page of your Canvas course.
  2. Click on the exam or quiz name.
  3. If the quiz is set up to only display one question at a time, use the Edit button and, on the Details tab, UNcheck the Show one question at a time option and then scroll to the bottom and click the Save button.
  4. Click the Preview button.
  5. Hit CTRL-P for the Print dialog.
  6. Either select a valid printer for Destination and click the Print button OR change the Destination to either Save as PDF or Save to Google Drive (the latter will save it as a PDF) and click the Save button.

The quiz will take up a LOT of paper if you physically print it out, so use that only when required. If you only need a copy of the quiz for now, be sure you set the Destination to Save to PDF or Save to Google Drive.

If parts of the quiz are cutoff in the preview, try clicking on More settings in the left sidebar of the Print dialog box and changing Scale from Default to Custom and then reducing the percentage number.

But, if you are just needing to send a copy to a school administrator for documentation or in case a manual make-up is needed after school is out, change the Destination to Save as PDF and send that file to the administrator along with a key.
