We have great news! On 1/29/2017 the district enabled new features in Canvas that integrate tightly with Google Drive and the Google Docs, Sheets, and Slides apps.

Teachers can now create Google Docs Cloud Assignments. They create a template docs, sheet, or slide in their own Google Drive and then can quickly link it to a new Canvas assignment. When students open the assignment, they get their own copy of the template document which they can edit directly in Canvas and then submit.

Teachers and students also have direct access to their Google Drive from within Canvas. In the Course Navigation Menu in the left sidebar for any course, there is a now a Google Drive link which can be used to quickly open and edit an existing Google App file.
Detailed instructions are online and can be accessed anytime with the "Using Google Drive & Apps in Canvas" link on the bpscanvas.org webpage.
