A new semester brings new Canvas courses with it that teachers will need to setup and publish. The good news is that all or part of an existing Canvas course can be copied into a 2nd semester course to make that setup easier!

The document linked below has details on the transition, including step-by-step instructions with screenshots on copying course settings and content:
Students and teachers will still be able to access 1st semester courses in Canvas on the day we return from break, January 3, 2018.

But that night that access to 1st semester course grades will end as the sync with PowerSchool will be restarted so that new students and schedule changes can start showing in Canvas on January 4, 2018.

To see student grades and other reports for a completed course (including your 1st semester courses after 1/3/2018):

  1. Open the course in Canvas.
  2. Click People in the sidebar navigation.
  3. Click the gear icon at top right.
  4. Click View Prior Enrollments in the drop-down menu.
  5. Click on the name of the student.
  6. Click the Student Grades button at top right (or at bottom of screenin small windows).
Other options you can invoke for former students include:
  • Interactions Report - teacher interactions with student
  • Access Report - student's use of Canvas
  • Outcomes Report
  • Analytics - summary charts and tables of student activity, communication, submissions, and grades
