Lady Bruins varsity basketball team excels

By the end of January the Lady Bruins varsity basketball team had racked up an impressive 18 wins with no losses so far this season, and were 9-0 in the Frontier Valley Conference. It has been over a decade since the team made a state tournament appearance, but it increasingly looks like they will be headed to state, with only five more games left on their regular season schedule in February. They are currently ranked second in the state in Class 6A, just behind Putnam City West.

Next up, the Lady Bruins are scheduled to play host at 6:30 p.m. Friday, 2/2/2018 to Bishop Kelley.

After that, they'll be away at Muskogee on 2/5 and then back home to play Jenks on 2/9, Broken Arrow on 2/13, and Union on 2/16.

These girls are not only great athletes, but also have great hearts. Recently Cindy Wood wrote a letter to the editor of the Examiner-Enterprise newspaper, thanking the Lady Bruins. Cindy's father is 93 years old and tries to go to all of the games, even away games, when possible. When Cindy and her father were at the Owasso game, several of the girls came over to thank Cindy's father for coming to all of their games.

Cindy wrote, "Our girls are very talented, and it is a joy to watch how they have gotten better every year. It is really fun to watch them play because not only do they play with a lot of heart, they live with a lot of heart too. In a time where there is a rampant lack of commitment, compassion and character, it was refreshing to see these qualities in our Lady Bruins basketball team."

We are very proud of these girls and head coach Krista Binam, along with assistant coaches Barney Hay and Nathan Binam.

So come out this month and enjoy some great games with some of our most talented athletes!
