All Central parents and students are invited to a major STEM event on Monday, 11/6/2017:
The second annual Hands-On, Minds-On Bartlesville Math & Science Night event for middle school students will be held on Monday, November 6, 2017 from 6-8:30 p.m. at Madison Middle School. The event is open to all middle school-age students in the Bartlesville area.

Last year over 200 middle school students, along with parents and siblings attended the first annual event, which featured over two dozen interactive stations, manned by volunteers from ConocoPhillips, the OSU student chapter of the American Association of Petroleum Geologists, and the Oklahoma Energy Resources Board.

At the annual event students learn about STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) fields as well as career options in the energy industry. Last year's stations included coding, seismic activity, acid tests, stream tables, and rock samples along with math and engineering-themed games.

Theresa Miller, science building coordinator at Madison, said, "It was amazing last year and expectations should prove to be even better for this year."

The event will again feature free pizza and many student prizes, including Apple watches, laptop computers, drones, and more. There will be a new  opportunity for four lucky students to fly on the commuter plane to Houston for a facility tour.

This year's event will feature more stations, a photo booth, more space, and a drawing for a gas card for parents attending with students, plus a gift card drawing for teachers who volunteer or come with their students.

So save the date and make plans to attend!
