 About Me

I grew up in Doon, Iowa and graduated from Rock Valley Community School. During school, I developed a passion for music through band, jazz band, and choir and continued performing in Northwestern's Symphonic Band, Jazz Band, Chamber Orchestra, Woodwind Quintet, and musical pit orchestra during my undergraduate career. Outside of teaching I perform in the Dordt Campus Community Band and in pit orchestras for local musicals. My main instruments are clarinet and saxophone.

Educational Background:

I am a 2017 graduate of Northwestern College in Orange City with a degree in 5-12 Instrumental Music Education. I am currently virtually attending the University of Minnesota for a Masters of Music Education degree, pedagogical track.

Teaching Experience:

I taught a 4th-8th grade summer reading program as an intern at Hope for Opelousas, a nonprofit tutoring program, during the summer of 2016 in Opelousas, Louisiana. I student taught 5-12 band in the fall of 2016 at Sioux Center Community School. My first year of teaching was at Newton Christian School in Newton, Iowa, where I worked as a 5th-8th grade band director and a K-8 teacher's aid. I taught two years of junior high band and am currently teaching 5-12 band at Boyden-Hull.
