Meet Mrs. DeFatta

Hello, my name is Debbie DeFatta and this is my 6th year teaching PreK at Waller Elementary School. However, I've been teaching at Waller for the past 32 years. During the first 27 years I taught many children how to read and enjoy books in 1st grade. Now I am excited about the new chapter in my teaching career. I am thrilled to be teaching PreK, because I believe that this first year of school is one of the most important in your child's life. It is a year in which students develop positive feelings about school and learning that can last a lifetime.

I was raised in a military family so I lived in many places around the world. I graduated from Derby High School in Kansas and then got my bachelor degree from Wichita State University. After moving to Bossier City I received my Masters degree from LSUS. I am married to my husband Philip and we have 2 wonderful children and 2 dogs. My son, P.J., is a graduate of Louisiana Tech University in Cyber Engineering and he has a wonderful job in Tampa, Florida. My daughter, McKenzie is a 9th grader at Airline High School. She is a member of the Vicking Pep Squad and also Vicki's HS Performing group. My dogs are Buttercup and Mini Pearl.

I love to read, work in my yard, spend time with my family and go to baseball games.
