Mrs. Evans

My name is Kristen Evans.  I currently serve as the Elementary Media Specialist and Technology Coordinator.  Before stepping into this position, I was the High School Media Specialist and one of the Local Area Network (LAN) Managers.
I feel I am very blessed to have my job and to work in this district.  Walking into this position, I knew very little about the "techie" side of technology in regards to servers and technology management.  I am thankful that the administrators had faith in me and I appreciate their patience and support.  I learned a lot during my first years at Boone Central and look forward to many more insightful years and experiences.
A Little Bit About Mrs. Evans
I am originally from Northeast Nebraska.  I grew up on a farm northwest of Elgin, NE and attended Elgin Public Schools K-12.  My family consists of my parents and an older sister, Stephanie.  I never really ventured far away from Northeast Nebraska.  I love the "simple" life and enjoy being close to my family.  My parents still live on the farm and my sister, brother-in-law, niece and nephew live close to Elgin.  My husband's family also lives in the Elgin area.
I am always amazed at how truly blessed I am.  I was lucky enough to marry my best friend and the love of my life, Jay.  We were married on June 4, 2011 in Neligh.  Jay has always worked in agriculture and still does.  He started out working for a farmer and later decided to get into a truck full time.  He had the opportunity to purchase his own truck and decided to give it a try hauling grain and livestock.  After we found out our family of two would be expanding by one, in January 2013, he reconsidered being in the truck.  Jay was able to apply for a position at Central Valley Ag - Agronomy in Elgin as an applicator.  He is still employed by CVA and is currently the Liquid Fertilizer Manager.
Right out of college, I was fortunate to find a job in my field of study.  I ventured off to Walnut Middle School in Grand Island, NE and taught 6th, 7th, and 8th grade Family and Consumer Sciences.  Being a homebody and missing my family, I found a job much closer to home at Norfolk Senior High the following year.  There I also taught Family and Consumer Sciences, but to high schoolers.  I taught at Norfolk Senior High for four years.  While there, I was able to help out at many sporting events, coach Jr. High track, and become 8 to Great certified.  Knowing that I wanted to get my Master's Degree, I started looking around.  I talked to many colleagues, friends, and family members before I finally decided to get my Master's in Media and Instructional Technology through UNK.  I am pleased to say that I successfully completed my Master's Degree during the summer of 2014.  I applied for a Media Specialist position in May 2012 at Boone Central Schools and was granted the opportunity to work here.  I have thoroughly enjoyed my time at Boone Central and look forward to seeing what the future holds for me.
My husband (Jay) and I live in Elgin, NE.  We welcomed our first born daughter, Harper Sue, into this world on January 3, 2013.  On July 25, 2014 we welcomed out son, Jackson Harold into this world.  They are the light of our lives and keep us busy and entertained.  Our dog Harley, has adjusted well to Harper and Jackson.  They are all best buddies and enjoy playing together.  In my spare time I enjoy being outside, cooking, spending time with family and friends, and reading.
