BEHS Credit Recovery Course for Health

This is an independent credit recovery course for a PASS/FAIL credit in Health Education at Bonny Eagle High School.  During the credit recovery course, students will explore many different topics in health and learn some valuable information that they can use throughout their life.

State law requires that students complete and pass a 1/2 credit of Health Education in order to graduate.  Our curriculum is designed to help students understand that they decisions they make can affect the quality of their lives both now and in the future.  Our health lessons and activities focus on the Health Education Standards.

1.) Health Promotion and Disease Prevention (Concepts of Health, Health Problems, Influences on Health)
2.) Health Information, Products, and Services (Identifying Resources, Evaluating Resources, Accessing Resources)
3.) Risk Reduction (Safety, Coping Strategies)
4.) Communication Skills (Listening Strategies, Self-Expression Strategies, Conflict Resolution Strategies)
5.) Wellness Planning (Self-Assessment, Decision-Making, Goal-Setting)

These standards will be addressed in 6 units:
  • Health Skills
  • Mental Health
  • Family Life
  • Nutrition and Physical Activity
  • Alcohol, Tobacco, and Other Drugs
  • Disease and Safety
At the beginning of each unit there is a presentation.  You will want to review this presentation because it will contain information that you may need in order to complete the assignments.  The presentations are located in the bolded header for each unit.

In order to receive a passing grade for this class, the student will need to complete all of the required pieces of the class to the teacher's specifications.  The student may go back and correct/fix information, in a timely fashion, if needed.  When all areas have been met to the teacher's specifications, the student will receive a PASS on their transcript.

In order to complete the Credit Recovery Program, students will need to use your BONNY EAGLE GMAIL ACCOUNT.  It is the easiest way to communicate with your teacher, via email, and many of the assignments will be completed and submitted through Google Drive.  If you do not know your user name or password, please let me or another teacher know and we can contact Dawn Staple to try and retrieve this information.  It is important that you use your school email address because the templates will only be available to your school email.
