BYSV represents an achieved synthesis of my dharma. I am grateful for all the things that Yoga has given me, and hope that as many people as possible may share in the blessings that a Yoga practice bestows on those who study it with diligence and faith. After more then 28 years of personal practice, and over 18 years of teaching, preaching, and demonstrating; I am thrilled to have put together a combination of all my life's teachings & experiences into a vinyasa flow style of pure intentions.
The synthesis of these teachings are inspired by my beautiful teacher's Sri Dharma Mittra, Tao-Porchon Lynch, Sri K. Pattabhi Jois-Guruji & Sharath, and Anna Forest.
This perfectly delivered intentional vinyasa flow series level I and level II, gives you the Divine body connection and promotes harmony within all the layers, so a concentrated state of radiant health is achieved. Experience great pleasure and delights, appealing to all your body senses, (including the sixth sense) mind and emotions.
There is always some type of Pranayama, Chanting, Sound Vibration leading to Nirvana. In the more advanced classes, perhaps some Prostrations and Japa Mantra and many other types of asana movements that are appropriate for the class at large. As I never teach to the asana, but rather to the students abilities at large.
Ashtanga Primary SeriesI teach the Full Led Primary Series as it was taught to me by David Swenson, David Williams and Master Sri K. Pattabhi Jois, who passed in 2009. This method of Yoga involves synchronizing the breath with a progressive series of postures - a process producing intense internal heat and a profuse, purifying sweat that detoxifies muscles and organs. The result is improved circulation, a light and strong body, and a calm mind. All asanas are broken down and explained in detail to bring each student understanding and of the practice.
Beginner Hatha Yoga
Specially designed for beginners 75 minute of Hatha yoga. Each student is given the extra attention and instruction needed to learn the basic yoga principles on asanas (poses) Pranayama (breath control) and Meditation. This introduction to Yoga will teach you correct alignment, breathing techniques, and understanding of the practice. You will increase your flexibility as you strengthen, tone, and revitalize your body. Perfect for new students and those who want to reacquaint themselves with the basics. A class for all fitness levels in a open, safe space for your practice. (Note: No Vinyasa)
Dharma Yoga® Shiva Namaskara Vinyasa
A challenging and physically absorbing vinyasa series created by Sri Dharma Mittra for Dharma I, II, III, IV, and V. It reintegrates the flow of prana through the spinal column and emanates deep into all areas of the physical, metabolic, intuitive, and bliss bodies. It promotes harmony within all these layers so a concentrated state of radiant health is achieved. The highest crowning meditative asanas, pranayama (breathing techniques), and yoga nidra (psychic sleep), which are embedded in the deep roots of Dharma Mittra's teachings, are imparted to the student.
Maya Yoga Vinyasa Level I
A combination of (Iyengar and Ashtanga), starting with sun salutations, standing sequences, forward bending, heart openers, and a few inversions. Each asana is held longer to build heat, and done with exacting alignment, using props as needed.
Combo Vinyasa Level II
Builds upon Maya Yoga Vinyasa Level I with more intense sequencing, drawing from some of the teachings of Dharma Mittra (Shiva Namaskara Vinyasa). We will use Pranayama (breath), deeper forward bending, more challenging standing sequencing, full dhanurasana (back-bending), arm balancing, and more inversions.
Combo Vinyasa Level III
Builds upon Combo Vinyasa Level II with more intense sequencing and chanting. This class is taught at an intermediate/advanced level. Good for students who have been practicing for a few months. Drawing from the teachings of Sri Dharma Mittra (Shiva Namaskara Vinyasa) and Sri K. Pattabhi Jois (Ashtanga). You will learn advanced breathing techniques ~ Pranayama. We will work on gaining more flexibility, balance and strength needed for Urdvah Dhanurasana (wheel pose), deeper forward bending, more challenging standing sequencing ~ Warrior III and Half moons. Methods will be given to properly master the scorpion forearm balance for level 4 and handstand inversion. Concluding with a guided Yoga Nidra (yogi sleep) & deep relaxation.
Builds upon AshtangaPrimary Series and is a different “set” of asanas. The practice continues to focus on Pranayama (breath), Mulabanda (locks), and Dristi (gaze). The practice continues with deeper spinal twisting, back bending, and arm balancing, with several inversions.
This class is for the advanced student and teachers of all lineages. For the Yogi looking to take their life and practice to a whole new level. Feel a conscious change physically, mentally, and emotionally. A long and challenging flow practice, with deep back bending, forearm balancing, handstands inversions, and fun and invigorating Acroyoga. We will end in deep yoga nidra (yogi sleep).
Bonnie's Kids Yoga
This course will begin a great journey in a child’s life. Yoga helps bring out natural flexibility, teaches poise and grace, good communication with others and a strong sense of self. Postures will be taught through the use of games, songs and self-expression, as well as in a classical manner. Personable one on one attention is given by loving instructors. The lessons will help children become calm, one-pointed, self-confident and healthy. When Yoga is introduced at a young age, one will have the flexibility gained for a lifetime. It is a valuable tool in one's pocket to rely on for the rest of their lives.
Tween & Teen Yoga
De-stress with kids your own age, its lots of fun! Open to all levels, this class serves co-ed ages from 12 - 17. Class will incorporate asanas (postures), breathing, meditation, and spiritual principles to empower teenagers to become more self-aware and confident. Students gain a sense of well-being while developing both physical and emotional strength and flexibility. Satsang is a time put aside after practice for respectful teaching and discussion of a myriad of issues concerning teens and the journey through adolescence. Senior Chair Hatha/Raja Yoga Yoga is great for building strength and increasing flexibility, it is also slow-paced and low-impact, which is why it's a favorite senior fitness activity. Seniors can benefit from yoga's emphasis on breathing techniques & relaxing music. Class closes with meditation & wonderful deep relaxation exercises. If you are out of shape, it's easy to work at a low level on a chair. While seated on chairs, students can do versions of twists, hip stretches, forward bends, and mild backbends. In addition to a good stretch, chair yoga participants can also enjoy other health benefits of yoga, including improved muscle tone, better breathing habits, reduction of stress, better sleep, and a sense of well-being.
