Objective

The Society of Exploration Geophysicists (SEG) BSU Chapter is an organization of geophysics students (undergraduate and graduate) at Boise State University.

We have four main objectives listed in our chapter:

  1. Promote and encourage the education of those interested in the field of geophysics and related disiplines.
  2. Promote friendship and goodwill among those interested in the geophysical sciences.
  3. Promote an attitude of professionalism among members of the organization and towards those unrelated to the organization.
  4. Promote and encourage public awareness and application of the geophysical sciences.

What does this really mean??

  1. Provide students with the opportunity to become familiar with the various applications of geophysics: Connect students with field work and research projects at BSU and abroad
  2. Introduce students to a wide variety of geophysical careers and current geophysical research: Send students to conferences
  3. Create opportunities for social interaction between students, faculty, staff, and their families: Organize social gatherings
  4. Enhance geoscience education and awareness within the community: Volunteer in the community in geoscience-related activities.
