Capital High Physics & Computer Science

Welcome to Capital High Physics and computer science.  I am Mr. Sean Boston.   This site contains general information about physics and computer science courses at Capital High.  For more detailed information, please click on the class specific website on the menu at the left.

Physics:
We have 3 different Physics classes at Capital:
  • Conceptual Physics
  • AP Physics 1
  • AP Physics C

See the course syllabi in the files linked at the bottom of the page.

Each physics course varies in difficulty and depth of mathematics usage with Conceptual physics being the least rigorous and AP Physics C being the most rigorous.  In general, we explore the following topic in Physics:

    - linear motion    - forces    - rotational motion    - energy    - gravity    - electricity    - magnetism

Computer Science:

Currently, we offer AP Computer Science Principles.  This course offers a broad perspective of computer science.  We model our course off of the Code.org curriculum for AP Computer Science Principles.  Computing affects almost all aspects of modern life and all students deserve a computing education that prepares them to pursue the wide array of intellectual and career opportunities that computing has made possible. This course is not a tour of current events and technologies. Rather, this course seeks to provide students with a “future proof” foundation in computing principles so that they are adequately prepared with both the knowledge and skills to live and meaningfully participate in our increasingly digital society, economy, and culture.  The specific topic we cover include:

- internet    - digital information    - algorithms and programming    - big data & privacy    - building apps
