Welcome back to school!
During the first quarter, the Erdkinder theme is "Zooming In: Culture and Community." We started language arts off with the telling of Montessori's fourth Great Lesson.
Together the Erdkinder theme and the History of Writing Great Lesson present an opportunity for students to learn:
- root words
- the formal 5 paragraph essay
- grammar: proofreading, homophones, nouns and verbs, capitalization, pronouns, types of verbs, verbals, verb phrases
- summarizing
- paraphrasing
- using textual evidence
- different aspects of culture
