The Tanglin Dive Section headed in mid-September for 4 days of diving on South China Sea shipwrecks. The trip focused on relatively unexplored wrecks seldom dived or perhaps not at all. One even turned out to be a sunken cement barge.
Much attention was paid to safety and procedures, as the conditions and depths were significantly more challenging than recreational diving – with no nearby island in sight, depths typically in the 45m to 65m range, involving 20 to 40 minutes of decompression stops using enriched air nitrox and pure oxygen.
We were rewarded with a rich diversity of colourful soft and hard corals, and a huge abundance of fish and other marine life beyond those commonly seen on shallower coral reefs. On our second day, we had a dive with a four metre whaleshark, followed by swims with it as it approached our dive boat with curiosity!
After a long absence from the internet world (and submersion into facebook), our website has now been revived onto a new portal. I've posted photos from a recent trips 12-14th April 2013, and 23-26th May 2013 on board MV The Ark.
With the shift toward Social Media platforms, most of our club activities will be done over facebook and probably shift away from the forums.
