Fiction Factory makes innovative, popular and award winning drama.

Our back catalogue includes everything from fantastical gangland escapades to gritty police drama and surreal sit-com: from funky urban relationship drama to epic historical odyssey and drama documentary. Since 2005 it has produced over 120 hours of drama for BBC, ITV, C5 and S4C, earnt over 70 nominations and awards, from BAFTA and Celtic Film Festival to the Rose D’or Prix Europa, with distribution to over 80 countries.

Since 2002 Fiction Factory has been part of the Tinopolis Group, one of the UK’s leading independent media companies, producing 2500 hours of programming annually for more than 200 broadcasters worldwide. Other group members include award-winning sports producer Sunset & Vine, prestigious drama/drama-doc producer Daybreak Pictures and multi-faceted documentary producer Mentorn Media.

ED
Ed Thomas - Creative Director
Ed Thomas is Creative Director and Executive Producer at Fiction Factory. He has written, directed or produced more than 120 hours of award-winning drama across all genres. He is also a playwright; his work has toured internationally and has been translated into more than 10 languages. They include House of America, East From the Gantry, Flowers of the Dead Red Sea, Song from a Forgotten City, Gas Station Angel and Stone City Blue.

ALECAlec Spiteri - Line Producer
Alec first joined Fiction Factory in August 2011 as a freelance post production supervisor, after graduating from Cardiff University degree in Economics and Finance and running his own business. After a year as a part-time freelancer, in May 2012 Alec was taken on full time with Fiction Factory where he then went on to co-ordinate the first series of Hinterland/Y Gwyll.

In August 2013 Alec moved onto Line Producing the 4th series of Gwaith Cartref, after training with one of Fiction Factory’s long standing freelance Line Producers.

NORANora Ostler - Producer
Nora joined Fiction Factory as a production assistant on the fourth series of Caerdydd back in September 2007. She then moved on to coordinate the fifth and final series of Caerdydd and six part documentary series Cymru Hywel Williams.  Much of 2009/2010 was spent working on Fiction Factory’s seminal production Pen Talar as story editor and co-ordinator, before moving on to general development.

In August 2011 she took over as producer mid-way through the second series of Gwaith/Cartref, having cut her teeth as producer on single doc O’r Galon: Dad a Fi, as well as a single radio doc and an experimental comedy pilot.  She has recently delivered the fourth series of Gwaith/Cartref.

FFIONFfion Williams - Script Editor/Production Coordinator
Ffion joined the company in July 2011 to coordinate the second series of Gwaith/Cartref. Ffion graduated with a BA Honours in Acting from the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama, and has a glittering performing back-catalogue behind her, on stage and screen. Her work on Caerdydd gained her a BAFTA Wales nomination earlier this year.
