Thank you for visiting the HINTERLAND / Y GWYLL website.
It is my personal creation, set up to celebrate both the mood and feel of 'Welsh Noir' ('Cymru Noir') and the haunting beauty of the town of Aberystwyth and the county of Ceredigion.
I must admit that I came to this programme quite late. I first saw it on BBC4 in its English-speaking format when it was shown in April/May 2014. Because I enjoyed it so much that I purchased both the English and Welsh language versions on DVD, as well as the brilliant soundtrack CD (please visit my SHOP / SIOP page for details).
Those of you who know me already will be familiar with my treatment of other tv/film media. I'm talking about Branagh's Wallander (which initially dealt with Ken Branagh's portrayal of the famous Swedish detective, but now deals with all the Wallander portrayals including Krister Henriksson and Rolf Lassgård), and Blowup Then And Now (which deals in a similar way with Michelangelo Antonioni's cult 1966 film starring David Hemmings).
I am also in the early stages of Salem's Lot Then And Now, which relates to the (much-better-than-the-2004-version) 1979 TV mini-series.

Although I have the greatest admiration and respect for the production values resulting from their collaboration, please note that this site is NOT affiliated to S4C, all3media, Tinopolis, Fiction Factory, BBC cymru/wales or the Welsh Government. To the best of my knowledge no residents of Aberystwyth or the county of Ceredigion were hurt or distressed in the making of this website.
