Sorry for the long delay getting out this update.
As you can guess, we are in full harvest now.
As predicted, the cover crop on the new patch made for some outstanding potatoes. Our first section that we are digging, sorting and loading into the cooler are the Princess LaRatte Fingerlings and the only way to convey what we are getting .... well you gotta see the pictures …
As you can see, these are real eye candy and on the huge side!
We contemplated calling them “wristlings” instead of fingerlings.
Here's some loaded up in a 100# sack - getting ready for the cooler.
And then, after this visual treat, you must taste them!
It has been so busy with harvesting and completing other projects that we haven’t had time to make a good dish yet, but we did have a neighbor get some on Sunday and she was back on Monday to get some more. She brought a friend and was pretty excited that we could fill her order on such short notice. She, like many of our customers, prefers the small fingerlings – just smaller than chicken eggs. She told us about the dish she made Sunday night for her daughter and we were all getting hungry hearing her description!
As soon as I can I will do Brix test on these wonderful fingerlings and post the results here.
Please stop by so we can bag some for you! We’re here every weekend and on any weekday evening. And please remember, you can find Hail (our potato hauling Donkey) with the market cart filled with potatoes at the Hessell Grange Community Grower’s Exchange every Thursday evening from 5 to 7 PM. The Grange is at 5400 Blank Rd – just ½ mile west of Blankity Blank Potatoes!
See you soon!
