I was born in Northeast Iowa, where I was involved in music at a very early age. I began my music “career” at church in the children’s choir. Throughout the years, I also sang in the adult choir, and played in all three of the handbell choirs at one point or another. I also performed numerous vocal, trumpet, and organ solos for church services and special occasions, such as weddings. I was a member of both band and choir during my time in middle and high school, and was involved in select music groups such as Jazz Band and Chamber Choir as well. I also participated in lots of musical theatre productions both in school and in the community and I played both major and minor roles. I've had some wonderful opportunities to travel abroad with music as well, first in 2004 with my church's handbell group (England); and in 2006 with the Iowa Ambassadors of Music European Tour Choir (England, France, Switzerland, Austria, Lichtenstein, Italy, Germany). For five summers in a row, I attended the Dorian Summer Music Camps, which ultimately drew me to Luther College to pursue my undergraduate degree.

While at Luther College, I was in Nordic Choir, Cathedral Choir, Pike Kor (now Aurora), and Wind and Percussion Ensemble, took voice and trumpet lessons, and was elected Nordic Choir Vice-President for 2008-2009. I also served as the Future Music Educators Association (FMEA) Secretary for 2008 and was inducted into Pi Kappa Lambda (music honor society). I served the students and faculty of the Music Department during the school year as a student worker and as a student representative to the Music Faculty, and during three summers as a Summer Student Office Assistant. Every summer since 2007, I have spent two fantastic weeks on the Luther College campus working with amazing campers, faculty, and staff as a counselor for the Dorian Summer Music Camps, the very camp that drew me to Luther.

After student teaching at Harding High School in St. Paul, MN, and at Clover Ridge Elementary School in Chaska, MN, in 2009, I substitute taught in areas near my hometown. From the Fall of 2010 to the Spring of 2013, I was the 7-12 Vocal Music Director at Edgewood-Colesburg Community Schools. I have been teaching at Belmond-Klemme since Fall of 2010.

In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my husband, Jesse, our families and friends, reading a good book, taking beautiful pictures, and crafting! And of course, our two cats, Vincent and Frank, keep us entertained! :-)
