Each day, our students are involved in group activities such as morning meeting, recess, group instruction, technology time and meal times. The objective is to facilitate their social & communication skills during each of these activities in a natural setting. 
Our classroom’s unique design provides a highly structured school day with targeted, individualized learning opportunities in a sensory friendly environment. Alternative curriculum is provided as appropriate to support student strengths and needs. There is a continuing emphasis on the development of social skills, communication and student independence. Evidence Based Practices for instructing students with autism and similar disabilities aligned with the STAR program (Strategies for Teaching based on Autism Research) are utilized in the classroom daily. The STAR program is an ABA curriculum that involves discrete trial training, pivotal response training, and functional routines.  For more information on the STAR program, see the curriculum tab at the top of this page.
