Selection Process
for
7th Grade Students

SELECTION PROCESS

An overall average of 92.5 of the 4 core classes will be required for membership.  This average will be cumulative beginning from the first six weeks grading period through the fifth six weeks grading period of the year for which the student is considered.  Students must have been enrolled in Kerr Middle School the previous semester.

Seventh grade students are eligible for selection to be active members during their eighth grade year.

To be considered for membership in NJHS, students must have a high work ethic, high teacher evaluation, and no more than one ASD or ISS.

The selection of each member to the chapter shall be by a majority vote of the Faculty Council.  To evaluate a candidate’s character, the Faculty Council uses two forms of input:  school disciplinary records and faculty input regarding the candidate’s service activities, character, citizenship, and leadership.  Student character is an important as grades in selection.  Selected candidates are notified according to a predetermined schedule.  Full selection policy available upon request from the office.
