I have to admit that I wasn't sure I was going to like this one when I started reading, but I was wrong.  :-)  Samhain Corvus LaCroix (Sam) is a fast food-working, college drop-out necromancer - only he doesn't know about the necromancer part.  His powers were "binded" when he was an infant to protect him from a powerful necromancer, Douglas Montgomery, only now they've met in a potato-breaking-tail light encounter.  Douglas can sense a small trickle of power from Sam and "offers" to train him - after sending him the severed head - the TALKING severed head of a female co-worker.  This was a fun story with some interesting twists like a fey-werewolf hybrid locked in a cage with Sam in Douglas's basement.  The ending leaves open the possibility of more books to come, but it is not a cliffhanger.  I hope there are more to come!
