Science Inquiry

In science inquiry, children learn science (content knowledge), learn about science (the range of scientific approaches) and do science (engage in authentic science investigations). The aim is for children to understand our natural, physical world and be ready, willing and able to use their science knowledge and skills to make decisions and solve problems in real life.

To achieve this aim, children are supported to build the following five science capabilities over time:

  1. Gather and interpret data
  2. Use evidence
  3. Critique evidence
  4. Interpret representations
  5. Engage with science
