Selective Color in Movies
Part 1
Search in Images your favorite movie
What is on of the dominate colors that you see? (Mean Girls: Pink Waterboy: Orange)
Pick and save 3 images from the movie that show that dominate color.
Be selective on which images you pick. Some will be a lot better than others.
Try NOT pick 3 images of the same character wearing the same outfit throughout the movie.
Star Wars use of Green YES!
Part 2: Editing
Step 1
Open your first image.
click on the black/white circle at the bottom of the layers pallet
Pick Black and White.
With a Black paint brush, paint back the color.
Be sure you are bring back only the main color you choose
Flatten your image
Do this for all 3 of your imag

Step 2
Make all 3 of your images smaller
Image- Image Size
Width 7 (Do not worry what the height i
s)
Step 3
Create a new blank canvas
File- New (make sure you are in inches)
Width 20
Height 6
Resolution 72
Background Contents either white or bla
ck
Step 4
Select the Square tool
You will be drawing 3 squares so plan your spacing out
Draw your first rectangl
e
Step 5
Click Control-J to duplicate the layer
Click the Move Tool and drag this new layer to the right.
Try to get it as evenly spaced as possible
Click Control-J to make a 3 Layer.
Drag the box over so that you have 3 boxes.
Try to make them as evenly spaced as possibl
e.
Step 6
Drag your first movie photo onto the boxes canvas
Move the image is larger than the Black BOX.
To make the image bigger or small click Control and T
Step 7
On the Layers pallet click on the Movie photo layer.
Drag the movie photo layer so that it is Directly ABOVE the first Rectangle Layer.
The movie photo layer will now be the 3rd layer on the layers pallet
Step 8
Right Click on the movie photo layer
Select Create Clipping Mask
The photo will now be placed into the black box.
You can move the image around to show more or less of the picture.
You can use Control-T to make it bigger or smalle

Step 10
Move your third movie photo onto the square canvas.
Click on the third Movie Photo Layer
Drag it so that the 3nd movie image is directly ABOVE te third Rectangle Layer.
The 3nd movie image will be the 6th layer on your layers pallet.
Right Click on the 3nd movie photo layer and select Create Clipping Mask
The photo will now be placed into the black box. You can move the image around to show more or less of the pictur
