Large Area on Campus With Person

Photos of an Area:
1. Choose a subject or area to photograph
2. Standing in one place begin taking photos of different parts of the subject.
3. Make sure to include the area around the subject as you may choose to include this in your final artwork.
4. Take 20 different pictures. Take more pictures than you think you need to prevent missing areas in your finished artwork.
5. Save all your photos into one folder in a "Hockney" folder so that you can easily find them. It is important that they are in only ONE folder.
6. IT HELPS TO NAME THE FOLDER OBJECT HOCKNEY
Person Photos:
1. Choose one or more people to photograph
2. Standing in one place begin taking photos of different parts and angles of the person(s).
3. Have the person (s) move their head in different directions
4. Take 20 pictures. Take more pictures than you think you need to prevent missing areas in your finished artwork.
5. Save all your photos into one folder in a "hockney" folder so that you can easily find them. It is important that they are in only ONE folder. IT HELPS TO NAME THE FOLDER PERSON HOCKNEY
Photoshop Section
Part 1: Shrinking your photos
1. Before you begin creating your joiner, you will be shrinking all your images before starting your project
Go to:File- Scrips- Image Processer
2. Select the Folder where you have all your images taken for the Hockney assignment
3. Check Save in Same Location
4. Check Save as JPEG and RESIZE to Fit
5. Change your W 400px and H 400 px
6. Click Run
7. You will wait while Photoshop runs through all your files and shrinks them. When it is done running there will be nothing on your screen.

Part 2: Putting Joiner Together
1. Create a new document in Photoshop (File>new)
2. Make it 1500 x 1500 pixels Resolution 72
3. Make your background color anything you would like.
4. You will now be opening your shrunk photos for the assignment.
– Go to File> Open>
– Find the folder where you put your Hockney Images &Select the JPEG folder to open.
– The shrunk images will be in the JPEG folder.
– Open your images
– Click on Windows-Arrange- Float all in windows
-You are now ready to create
your Hockney
3. To make it easier with moving the Images around
– Click Move Tool
– Check the Auto Select Box above the move tool
– Now when you click on a photo it will automatically show you what layer you are on in the layers pallet.
4. Use the Move Tool to drag each photo on to the blank canvas
5. You are required to use 15 photos in the Hockney. You may use more if you like.
7. If you would like to rotate your image click “Control and T” at the same time. Rotate as desired.
8. For this step, pick 3 to 5 differenty layers to add a drop shadow to:
– Click the fx button at the bottom of the layers pallet
– Click the Drop Shadow button
– Make the settings: Distance 25-35 px Spread 6-12 % Size 60-70 px
11. Use the Crop Tool to crop the excess white canvas around artwork (do not crop any of the pictures!)
12. Merge your Visible
13. Edit so that all the photos have good contrast and are all matching in colors. This may be in color or black and white.
