Leagues and Tuesday Night Round Robin

League and Round Robin Update

With the cold weather and holiday events in December and January, the Tuesday Night Round Robins and the Spring Leagues is currently suspended.

League Play

In the Spring of 2017, we tried something new: Two separate leagues – one men’s and one women’s.  The Spring League ran from April 4th through June 13th.  There were separate men’s only and women's only divisions with teams consisting of 4 different skill level players – 3.5+, 3.0, 2.5 & 2.0.

This is a fun, competitive event and a great opportunity to play with different people you might not otherwise have met before.

Teams will be playing 3 matches on Tuesday evenings, against one of the other teams within your division (men’s or women’s), at a scheduled time between 5 and 9 pm.  The three games usually take about one hour.  Matches will consist of teammates of similar skill levels playing against one another.  Team scores will be kept and playoffs held at the end of the season.

If you are interested in participating in the Tuesday night league, please check back to hear about the Fall League.  Please remember, you are part of a team and being part of that team means being available to play most of the season.  If you cannot commit to 5 or more weeks of play, then you shouldn’t consider signing up.  Otherwise, missing a week or two can be covered with substitutes.

If you are interested in being a substitute, we will have a separate signup for subs.  We will need subs for all skill levels.

Round Robins

For the winter and summer sessions, we will have two sessions of Round Robin style play; one starting at 5 PM and one starting at 7 PM. Games are  played at the Cape Fear National Courts.  You must be available to play anytime between 5 and 9 PM since the two session set up will depend on the various level of members that sign up each week.  We are switching to signup.com for player’s weekly registration.  Use the link below to register. The link will be activated each Wednesday.

The first 48 members that sign up will play.   Remember to indicate your level of play (3.5-Advanced/3.0-High Intermediate/2.5-Intermediate/2.0-Low Intermediate) so that players can be matched in similar levels for better competition.

The format may change somewhat from week to week.  An example, one session could be Advanced/High Intermediate (3.0/3.5+) and the other session would be Intermediate/Low Intermediate (2.0/2.5).  The next week, it could be one session of just women and one session of just men.

Please arrive 15 minutes before your scheduled time to check in and warm up.

Teams will report their scores against their opponents on the score sheets provided so a tally of wins and losses are noted to determine the team winner for that week.

In the event of a tie -same number of wins and losses- between two teams at the end of the competition, the winner will be determined by the two team’s head-to-head results.

Reminders:  Complete the sign up no later than the MONDAY morning, prior to Tuesday's play. The registration permits 50 signups, but the first 48 for each session will play. The last two will be considered substitutes in the event of cancellations.
