Physical Devlopment & PE

The main aim of Belmont’s Physical Education Curriculum is to promote a positive and enjoyable experience to physical activity and healthy lifestyles. Through careful planning and teaching of suitably differentiated physical tasks, it is intended that pupils, irrespective of their ability, will enjoy success and be motivated to develop their individual potential.

The Government is committed to funding over £150 million for physical education (PE) and sport. Funding has been allocated to all maintained and state-funded schools with primary phase pupils since 2013 and continues for 2019/20.

Schools are free to determine how best to use this funding to improve the quality and breadth of PE and sport provision, including increasing participation in PE and sport so that all pupils develop healthy lifestyles and reach the performance levels they are capable of.

In 2019-20 our school received £7137
In 2018-19 our school received £17,130
In 2017/18 our school received £13,562
In 2016/17 our school received £8,567

We use this money to buy a professional P.E Coach who teaches P.E. to Nursery and Reception on Tuesdays and to Years 1 and 2 every Friday, to encourage physical play in our outdoor areas and to top up our much needed P.E equipment. We have committed a large portion towards building challenging outdoor climbing equipment in the EYFS playground -  this project will be completed early Summer 2019.
