The School Counseling staff at the Lurgio Middle School is an essential component to successful communication at Lurgio. School counselors are available to all students and parents to discuss academic, social, and emotional situations or concerns that may impact a student's school life. Students or parents may request individual consultations or group meetings as needs arise.

Al Fredette has been employed by the Bedford School District since 1980, first as a Social Studies teacher in the seventh and eighth grade, then as a school counselor. At Lurgio he is involved with theatre productions, Technology Students Association, FIRST Lego League, and the Mt. Cardigan Unit.

Claudette Stone has worked as a Resource Teacher for 7th and 8th grades at Lurgio. She is certified in Special Education and Behavioral and Emotional Disabilities and has been in the field for over 10 years. Mrs. Stone stresses proactive solutions to behavioral difficulties and works with students to identify goals and strategies for successful social skills.

Donna LaRue is the Youth Counselor for the Bedford School District. She works with both middle school and high school students and has functioned as a Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor since 1990. Ms. LaRue is the advisor for Lurgio's S.A.D.D. (Students Against Destructive Decisions) Club.
Beth Fitzgerald is the secretary for the Lurgio School Counseling Office. She supports the counselors and specialists with phone calls, scheduling appointments, updating 504 plans, and maintaining files. Mrs. Fitzgerald also registers new students, coordinates private school paperwork, and student withdrawals.

Sue Mullen has had the privilege of working in the Bedford School District for 38 years, first as a 5th Grade teacher and now as a school counselor. Ms. Mullen is very active with the Bedford Education Association (BEA) and the Bedford Bobcats Special Olympics team.
